Something you cannot identify is chasing you. Your legs will not go any faster. Just when this thing reaches out, you wake up! Scientists call this stage of sleep the Rapid Eye Movement phase. Usually about seventy minutes into sleep your eyes have rapid movement and breathing becomes irregular.

Research has shown that there are five different stages of sleep. By the time you reach stage five, otherwise known as the REM stage, the dreaming starts.Check out this link here. Blood pressure and heart rate may increase and muscles become relaxed.

Dreaming is a regular part of our everyday life. Throughout time dreams played a big part and have impacted history and the media. There is a real curiosity about dreams and the mystery surrounding them. One example of a dream that went down in history is the story of the Titanic.

His name was Eugene Daly. He boarded the Titanic with friends at Queenstown. Repeatedly, he told his friends of a haunting dream. Every night he dreamed of an iceberg colliding with the Titanic. On April 15, 1912 the Titanic sank. Fortunately, Eugene lived to tell the story. Are shadows in our dreams revelation of things to come? This remains a mystery.

There has been a great deal of research complied through the decades that surrounds the topic of brain waves. In this article we are going to discuss what brain waves are and how they are measured.

Psychophysics (a branch of psychology that studies the relationship between physical stimuli and the response in the brain it has on the brain.) views all matter including the human body as bio-electric magnetic matter that vibrates in waves with a specific oscillation frequency. Electroencephalography is what measures these vibrations that the brain emits. It- s the recording of electrical activity along the scalp. The vibrations are measured in cycles and they are called Hertz and can also be referred to as a frequency. For Example: If the Hz shows a low frequency then it will show low brain activity.

Brain waves are broken into 5 categories:
Delta- (below 4Hz) occur during sleep
Theta- (4-7 Hz) occur during sleep/ deep relaxation
Alpha-(8-13Hz) Relaxed or Calm
Beta-(13-38Hz) actively thinking/problem solving
Gamma-(39-100Hz) experienced during meditation

In understating brain waves it is important to know that we do not ever produce just one type of wave from the above category. Several differently brain waves are produced simultaneously.

In a strange case of irony, very few people are familiar with the term sleep debt yet this is problem in which millions of people suffer from. Actually, the term sleep debt is quite transparent in terms of its meaning. Slept debt, on the most basic of levels, refers to the physical and mental wear and tear one acquires upon ignoring the importance of getting proper rest and sleep.

The severity of the impact on those that suffer from sleep debt will depend on the actual amount of lack of sleep the sufferer has experienced. Someone that goes to bed a little too late and wakes up a little too early for extended periods of time will not experience the same level of sleep debt as someone who has suffered from several days of complete sleep deprivation.

Regardless of the severity of the sleep debt, it is important to address the problem. If you are not getting enough rest then you need to get your body-s sleeping cycle back into its proper order. Those suffering from serious sleep deprivation will likely need to seek the help of qualified professionals capable of helping to reverse the issue.

In short, you need to find a way to pay off your sleep debt.

The only thing worse than having bad dreams is not dreaming at all and more and more people are reporting trouble getting deep sleep at night. Here are a few suggestions for getting the best night’s sleep ever to ensure you hit that REM cycle so you can enjoy and explore your dreams!
Turn off All Media: At least one hour before you intend to go to sleep turn off your direct TV And Internet and let your eyes adjust to the absence of ambient light. We suggest reading or laying quietly to help your body relax.
Get Cool: It’s easier for the body to enter REM sleep if your heart rate is slowed and if you’re laying prone in a hot room that’s not going to happen. Ditch the feather comforter and lower the AC before you hit the sack to catch those Zs.
Allow Yourself Time: Don’t set an alarm if you can help it and go to bed as early as you need to get a full 8 hours of sleep. Keep in mind some people need more than 8 hours to feel rested.

Carl Jung is commonly known as a Swiss psychiatrist who founded analytical psychology. By studying analytical psychology, one can learn more about Jung’s View on One-Sided Dreams. Analytical psychology refers to the approach of studying dreams as a phenomenon that originates from the unconscious. By studying the unconscious, one can learn about the motivations for specific behaviors that are present in people. Carl Jung believed that the unconscious was something that could not be touched and placed through scientific experiments. Only through careful observation could one understand more about a specific human being. In this case, dreams could be observed to learn more about a person. The unconscious stores various information as it relates to a person. As more things are learned, or as a human goes through more experiences, additional things get stored in the unconscious. The human psyche is affected by both the processes that occur in the unconscious and through the dreams that people encounter. People become unique individuals as they get closer to a stage of self-realization. Through individuation, a person becomes whole. Some of these needs for self-realization are manifested in dreams. These dreams can be examined to identify things like the motivation for behavior, and the behavior would then be related to the needs for self-realization. Dreams are one-sided because dreams are relevant only to the person who experiences them.

We all have dreams. Often we can not remember them, but on occasion upon waking the details are still fresh on our minds. Once in a while we experience a dream that not only stays with us upon waking but reoccurs night after night. If this happens to you it is possible to overcome these recurring dreams.

One popular method of understanding a recurring dream is to keep a journal. In fact, it is often one of the best ways to understand your dreams. In the morning when you wake simply write down everything you remember including sight, sounds, and smells. A dream journal will allow you to go back and evaluate what happened and what it could mean.

Keep in mind that your subconscious talks to you with symbolism, you many need to figure out what it is trying to tell you. Take the time to evaluate each item that seems to have some significance. It may also be helpful to reference a dream book. While the definitions found there are generalized and may not fit you personally it will give you a jumping off point. Once you have decoded the message it is very like that the recurring dream will stop.

Dreams about falling are common amongst people of all races and social back grounds. Many have never analyzed what these dreams give in sight to into their personal lives or what causes them to happen. The most common meanings are often misinterpreted and can be confusing to most. So what does a dream about falling mean?

It depends on the context of which the individual having the dream sees it. While many of these dreams are nightmares to some to others this type of dream maybe relaxing. A dream about falling means that a person is losing control of an aspect of their personal life. The helplessness of falling is and indicator of this.

This could mean to some that they are having uncontrollable financial, marital, drug, or other issues. This type of dream about falling is noted by waking up with anxiety and panic. For those who find these types of dreams relaxing it shows they are content with the chaos of daily life and are happy.

Dreams about falling are as common as people. Being able to have insight into these dreams can help you evolve. If this becomes a recurring dream though start instituting a dream journal and compare it to the activities of that day. That will help you get a hold of your dreams.

Do you have nightmares that keep you awake at night? You can actually stop them from happening by performing simple steps.
1)Stress- This is the most common so you should try some stress-relieving tactics.
2)Make a list of things to remember- Have a hectic tomorrow? Then write the stuff down. It helps more than you know.
3)Take a hot bath an hour before your bedtime- Add some nice aromatherapy and you should fall right to sleep.
4)Try some white noise- You can also try some naturalistic noise like waves crashing or nighttime jungle sounds
5)Meditation- Enroll in a meditation class and see if that helps. People have practiced this method for thousands of years.

And that brings us to the next topic. Understanding the dreams you’re having. Everyone has had a weird dream or two. That doesn’t mean there is something wrong with us. In fact, it means we are normal. Nightmares actually tell us what is wrong with our lives and it shows us what we need to repair it. This is called self-affirmation. Try writing your own ending. While your in your dream, try to make it turn out the way you want it to. Then try to connect what is new in your life that could be causing the nightmares and repair it. This is caused resolution.

There are literally hundreds of thousands of topics or themes of dreams, but one which seems quite popular is the theme of abandonment. And for as many types of dreams there are, some might argue there are an equal number of interpretations. With that said, it is a somewhat common belief that to dream of abandonment implies the subconscious desire to leave behind feelings or behaviors that might be serving to inhibit growth or advancement in other areas of your life quite literally to abandon them.Equal to this theory is the direct interpretation of a fear of loss, abandonment, or betrayal. An alternate interpretation is that the dream implies a feeling of neglect either physically or emotionally. And should your dream be one where you are the one who abandons others, dream researchers interpret this to mean that you may be overwhelmed with issues or problems concerning those individuals and their inclusion in your life.As you can see, with even the singular issue of “abandonment” there can be several interpretations. As such, it’s critical to remember that an interpretation is merely that and not a literal or scientifically proven fact.
